An opportunity has arisen for a Business Systems Architect to join a small, dedicated IT capability within the UK that leverages the extensive IT resources of the worldwide Boeing Company to deliver complex solutions to the business and its clients.

They focus on improving efficiency, security, and performance while collaborating with stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors. Key duties include developing business system architecture, supporting governance, and advising on strategic improvements to deliver business value.

The successful candidate must gain the confidence of both business and technical staff, acting as a conduit between these groups at national and international levels. They will be a strong communicator, able to present ideas, facilitate workshops, and elicit needs from the business. The candidate should be a self-starter with experience working in a matrix organisation and the ability to discuss ideas and concepts with staff at all levels. Stakeholder engagement is a critical aspect of this role.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

  • Delivery oversight: Oversee design through to successful delivery — guide implementation, actively support delivery teams to resolve design and integration issues.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with executives, business leaders, IT Business Partners, technical architects, and vendors.

  • Skilled in designing applications and platforms: defining system boundaries, data flows, APIs, integration points, and information models.
  • Able to produce core architecture artifacts: solution diagrams, data models, API contracts, non‑functional requirements, and migration plans.
  • Track record of guiding technical design through delivery: authoring design/deployment guidance and collaborating with delivery teams to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Strong communicator and self‑starter with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills; able to explain technical concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Comfortable with multiple delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, DevOps) and experienced operating in large, international, matrixed environments.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Defence sector experience.
  • Knowledge of MOD maintenance, equipment, engineering and supply‑chain processes, and relevant standards/compliance (MOD O/S, DEFSTAN/JSP, ITAR, EAR).
