Business Support & Private Sector Housing Support Officer – closing date 27.11.2025
Salary from £26,685 to £29,079 pa
Temporary role for up to 2 years – Full time – 37 hour per week
Location: Ashford, Kent

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Environmental Health team as a Business Support & Private Sector Housing Support Officer where you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of services across Environmental Health. From managing data and documents to being the first point of contact for customer enquiries, your work will directly contribute to the success of our Public Protection objectives.

This is a varied and rewarding role that spans multiple service areas including licensing, parking, insurance, corporate health and safety, food safety, and more. You will be instrumental in supporting key projects, maintaining essential records, and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders

Essentially you will provide front-line customer service via phone, email, and in-person enquiries, along with:

  • Processing grant schemes and maintaining HMO registers
  • Reviewing and improving administrative processes and systems
  • Supporting licensing functions, ensuring statutory compliance and accurate record-keeping
  • Raising invoices, processing payments, and reconciling fees
  • Managing parking waivers, insurance claims, and health & safety documentation

To be competent in this role it is essential that you are an experienced administrator, with strong IT and database skills, as well as:

  • Being a confident communicator with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Being organised, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Being proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and bespoke IT systems
  • Having the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Havign strong written and verbal communication skills
