Job summary

Forestry England is recruiting a Business Support Officer - Environment to join the West England Forest District. The post will provide essential business and administrative support to the Environment team, including Ecology and Nature Recovery colleagues.

The fixed-term appointment runs until 31 March 2029 with 37 hours per week, based at Bank House in Coleford. Salary is £30,105 with generous Civil Service pension benefits.

  • Proactive, well organised with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding business and administrative support to West England Forest District’s Environment team.

What you’ll do…

As Business Support Officer - Environment, you will provide outstanding business and administrative support to West England Forest District’s Environment team, which includes our Ecology and Nature Recovery teams.

Where you’ll work…

The postholder will be based at our forest office at Bank House, Coleford, GL16 8BA. However, other Forestry England office locations within the district may be considered.

If the successful applicant is new to Forestry England then they will need to be embedded within a Forestry England office for a significant proportion of the working week during an induction period.

Alongside your salary, Forestry England contributes an average of 28.97% towards your pension. You will become a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme.

This role is funded by DEFRA rather than through Forestry England generated revenue, and is therefore subject to government spending reviews. In the event of funding changes, we would prioritise retaining staff posts wherever possible. This approach is consistent for roles within publicly funded organisations.
