Pay and Reward Package

From 1 December 2025, our updated Pay and Reward package will take effect, introducing a new approach to recognising and rewarding roles across the Council. The salary for this role will be adjusted to a pay range of £30,024 to £33,143 (pro‑rata for part time). All new starters will begin at the bottom of the pay band, reflecting our commitment to equity across the organisation and aligning with the approach taken with existing staff during the transition. While the starting salary is fixed, the role offers excellent scope for growth, meaningful contribution, and the opportunity to be part of a forward‑thinking team.

About Us

The Dorset Combined Youth Justice Service (DCYJS) is a statutory partnership between BCP Council, Dorset Council, Dorset Police, National Probation Service Dorset and NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. DCYJS works with children and young people in the local youth justice system, aiming to help those young people to make positive changes to their lifestyle, keep themselves and others safe, and repair the harm caused to victims.

Join Our Team as a Business Support Officer

We’re seeking a proactive and highly organised Business Support Officer to provide essential administrative support to Youth Justice Service practitioners and operational managers.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll work independently with minimal supervision, managing a variety of tasks that require discretion, accuracy, and efficiency. You’ll liaise with the Police and Courts to obtain and record sensitive and confidential information about children involved in the Criminal Justice System—ensuring data is handled with precision and within strict deadlines. You’ll use a range of specialised and standard business systems to support key functions such as data recording, case management, quality assurance, and financial administration. Strong attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are essential.

Location and Working Arrangements

This position is based in Dorchester (County Hall), with opportunities for home working.
