About The Role
We are seeking an organised and proactive Business Support Officer to join our clients team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who thrives in a busy office environment and enjoys providing high-quality administrative and financial support.
As part of the Business Support Team, youll play a key role in maintaining smooth day-to-day operations from handling enquiries and maintaining records to supporting meetings, panels, and financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Duties
- Provide reception support by phone and email, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Resolve day-to-day queries and issues promptly.
- Maintain and update computerised records, including pupil and child databases.
- Liaise with parents, carers, schools, outside agencies, and the general public.
- Prepare and distribute meeting papers, take minutes, and support divisional meetings.
- Attend EHCP panels, take notes, update systems, and issue resulting correspondence.
- Manage emails within the Tribunals and Mediations inbox and arrange mediation dates.
- Arrange hospitality and meeting room preparation for visitors.
- Order and maintain office supplies, liaising with suppliers as needed.
- Undertake general administrative tasks, including correspondence, filing, and post distribution.
- Support team briefings and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines and service requirements.
- Continue developing professional skills through relevant training.
Financial Support
- Assist managers and senior staff with financial operations, including monitoring budgets and expenditure.
- Prepare financial reports, statements, and monthly reconciliations.
- Liaise with other council departments regarding staffing, contracts, and financial planning.
- Administer council purchase cards within the division.
- Support ad hoc financial and administrative tasks as directed by the Business Support Team Manager.
About You
You Will Have
- Proven administrative experience within a busy office environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Competence in using Microsoft Office and database systems.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Experience supporting financial processes or budget monitoring (desirable).
Contract Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: 24th April 2026
- Hours: Full-time, 5 days per week
- Location: Office-based - Solihull
- Rate: £13.90 per hour (Grade C SP 8)
