Job summary

PSD Scotland seeks a proactive Business Support Manager to coordinate corporate governance initiatives and support the Head of Business Support. You will deputise for senior managers and lead a team across three sites, ensuring a comprehensive business support service while enabling flexible, hybrid working patterns.

Based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Canderside with travel between sites, the role is 36 hours per week and requires UK resident status.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate corporate governance initiatives and ensure alignment with SBU programmes.

  • Arrange travel between sites and support hybrid working patterns.

Job description

On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.

As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long‑term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.

About the Organisation:

PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future.

We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.

The Post:

National Procurement (NP), National Services Division (NSD) and NHS Scotland Assure Directorates provide specific services and expert advice across its portfolio of activity. Outputs include specialist services commissioning, screening, national contracting, logistics, procurement systems, and professional advice and expertise about property, facilities, construction and equipment. The Business Support Managers lead and manage a team of up to 20 administrators and three project support officers sited across 3 different locations who provide a fully comprehensive, professional business support service for the NSD SBU.

The Candidate:

The post holder will support the Head of Business Support in coordinating corporate governance/initiatives and ensuring that corporate programmes are supported within the SBU. The successful candidate will also deputise for the Head of Business Support and the other Business Support Manager, when appropriate, on all aspects of the business.

Location and Working Pattern:

Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow or NDC (Canderside).

Candidate can be based at any of these three sites, however, travel is required between sites. Hybrid working is available.

Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
