Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

Shift Pattern: 9‑5 Mon to Fri, 8‑4 Mon to Fri.

Responsibilities and Duties

The post forms part of the SCS Business Support Team and provides comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to In‑Reach, Specialist Children’s Services. The post-holder will contribute and undertake a variety of secretarial and administrative duties, working independently for much of the time and demonstrating a clear understanding of the service(s). The work involves:

  • Processing referrals
  • Managing calls, enquiries and emails
  • Audio typing and minute taking
  • Collating and updating micro‑strategy data via electronic patient management systems
  • Performing any ad‑hoc administrative duties required to support the service(s)
  • Working closely with the Senior Business Support Assistant to provide updates and take forward operational tasks as and when provided
  • Prioritising workload continually and being an effective team player
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Competency in a range of computer packages, evidenced by experience or formal qualification such as ECDL
  • Recognised qualification in Administration equivalent to HNC in Secretarial Studies or Business Administration, or SVQ in Administration at Level 3, or significant relevant practical experience
  • Good knowledge of office procedures and systems
  • Prior experience working in a secretarial or administrative role

Full induction and on‑site training will be provided.
