Are you an organized, detail-oriented administrator seeking a stable contract role in the beautiful Cumbrian town of Wigton? Join a busy team within Cumberland Council and provide essential administrative and financial support to critical directorates.

The Opportunity: At a Glance
  • Role: Business Support Administrator (BS6 Grade)

  • Location: Wigton, Cumbria (100% Office-Based)

  • Pay Rate: £13.00 per hour

  • Contract Length: Fixed-term until March 2026, with a strong potential for extension.

  • Hours: 37 hours per week (Full-time)

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday

What You'll Be Doing

This is a key administrative post responsible for keeping the corporate engine running. Reporting into the Business Support Team, you will handle the day-to-day administrative and financial requirements for managers across Economy & Infrastructure and Customer/Community Services.

Your core duties will include:

  • Providing proactive, efficient, and flexible administrative support to ensure deadlines are met and confidentiality is maintained.

  • Managing administrative tasks related to statutory timescales and directorate requirements.

  • Assisting with basic financial processes, such as logging invoices, processing purchase orders, and managing petty cash.

  • Coordinating, scheduling, and setting up important meetings and events.

  • Maintaining and updating complex electronic filing systems and databases with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Drafting, proofreading, and circulating professional documents and reports.

  • Acting as a reliable point of contact for internal staff and external stakeholders via phone and email.
