Job Overview
Serves as financial analyst for Business Unit Controller(s) and Associate Director(s) Finance. Prepares, reconciles, analyzes and reports Business Unit revenue, contracts, projects, and associated metrics. Produces financial and other business analyses, interpretation, and investigation of data for operations assigned to projects and contracts. Ensures all reporting activities are accurate and prepared within established timelines.
Responsibilities
- Supports Business Unit Controller by:
- Recording revenue each month for Unit, Fee for Service and Fixed Price contracts.
- Loading project budgets into Oracle/Revenue Wizard and maintaining key member lists and project data.
- Preparing project level actual versus budget/forecast variance analysis monthly and monthly reports.
- Coordinating monthly forecasting of financial results (backlog).
- Meeting established deadlines for revenue and backlog submittals.
- Preparing project close‑out reconciliations, identifying issues and escalating as necessary.
- Serving as key contact for interpretation and investigation of financial results for assigned Project Managers/Leads.
- Reviewing executed Work Orders and Change Orders for bonuses or other anomalies.
- Works closely with Business Unit Controller to:
- Capture, assess and consolidate results.
- Prepare key reports such as annual cost and expense budgets, cost rates, expense forecasting, monthly utilization, headcount, revenue backlog analysis and gross profit.
- Assist in running P&L, G/L account detail, and project‑level reports for BUC review.
- Produce ad‑hoc reports as required.
- Attends project meetings as applicable, including kick‑off meetings for new projects and monthly project review meetings to confirm status and accuracy of forecasts.
- Monitors overall health of assigned projects, including revenues, gross profit, receivables, and unbilled amounts, as well as project close‑outs and reconciliations.
- Acts as backup for BUC in responding to requests from project managers and others.
- Performs other work‑related duties as assigned.
Minimal travel may be required (up to 25%).
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent education and experience.
- Pharmaceutical or CRO experience preferred.
- Strong English proficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) essential.
- Proficiency with accounting software packages; experience with Oracle Finance preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent financial, communication, and interpersonal skills; strong motivation to achieve.
- Ability to work with confidential and sensitive data.
- Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
