Job description

At OakNorth, we’re on a mission to empower the UK’s most ambitious businesses. Since 2015, we’ve lent over $18 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers — all while fuelling the UK economy.

We’re looking for a Business Performance Partner to work directly with OakNorth’s Co-Founder & CEO and Executive Leadership Team driving OakNorth’s strategic priorities performance delivery, and business rhythm. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role, ideal for someone highly numerate who combines sharp analytical insight with operational acumen and the ability to influence at senior levels.

You’ll act as an extension of the CEO office, ensuring priorities are executed with pace and precision connecting strategy to results, surfacing insights that drive decision‑making and investment decisions, and helping the business scale effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy & Business Performance
  • Partner with the CEO to track and drive progress against OakNorth’s strategic priorities, financial performance, KPIs and OKRs.
  • Develop and maintain a clear line of sight between the company’s strategic goals and quantifiable data in the performance of operational execution.
  • Synthesize data and insights across business units (lending, deposits, technology, partnerships, operations) to identify growth opportunities and performance gaps.
  • Prepare executive summaries, dashboards, and performance packs for Board, ExCo, and investor discussions.
  • CEO Enablement & Decision Support
  • Act as a thought partner to the CEO, using performance data to shape priorities, manage trade‑offs, and translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Anticipate information and analysis the Leadership team will need to make decisions effectively; ensure data and relevant information are provided in advance, and that all relevant questions are considered.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional input and ensure accountability for deliverables linked to CEO priorities.
  • Business Operations & Rhythm
  • Design and run the business performance cadence (e.g., monthly performance reviews, OKR check‑ins, quarterly planning cycles).
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives that require CEO sponsorship but hands‑on delivery support.
  • Streamline internal communication and alignment between CEO, ExCo, and broader leadership teams on performance topics. Ensure data and insights are the basis of discussions and decision‑making.
  • Special Projects & Growth Initiatives
  • Support or lead ad‑hoc performance‑related projects spanning new product initiatives, partnerships, or geographic expansion. Evaluate ROI, success metrics, conduct feasibility analyses and define expected outcomes using data and financial modelling.
  • Provide structured analysis and recommendations for emerging opportunities, competitive intelligence, or operational challenges.
  • Act as the connective tissue between the CEO’s vision and cross‑functional execution teams.
  • Incentive Design and Performance Tracking
  • Support incentive design for teams or key roles, to ensure that rewards are linked to individual/team/business performance and that outcomes are incentivised appropriately.
  • Provide relevant decision support
Experience and Skills
  • 8–12 years’ experience in a top‑tier management consulting, strategy, or business operations / Chief of Staff role — ideally within fintech, banking, or tech‑enabled growth businesses.
  • Proven ability to work with senior executives, balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, commercial, and problem‑solving skills —
  • comfortable building financial models, frameworks, and insights support decisions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; able to distil complete issues into clear recommendations.
  • Experience designing and implementing performance frameworks, OKRs, or business cadences.
  • Bias for action, humility, and comfort working in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Personal Qualities
  • Commercially sharp with intellectual curiosity and strong emotional intelligence.
  • A low‑ego operator who values collaboration, clarity, and execution excellence.
  • A trusted challenger — able to influence and support leaders to drive results.
  • Obsessed with progress and performance — always seeking the next “quantum leap” in value creation.
Benefits and Perks
  • Equity. We want people to have a stake in the business so that all our interests are aligned.
  • 25 days holiday
  • Personalized benefits – opt‑in to what matters to you
  • Subsidised Private Medical Insurance with Bupa
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Wellbeing and social events
  • In‑house Barista Bar in London office
  • Support causes that matter to you – Volunteering time off
  • Salary sacrifice schemes (Cycle to work, nursery, gym, electric car scheme)
