Job description

Reporting to the Head of the Clinical Biotechnology Centre you will lead and manage a small office-based operational team, responsible for running the day-to-day facility operations in support of the business in ensuring the new state of the art facility runs smoothly and effectively. The Clinical Biotechnology Centre has over 20 years experience in the manufacturing of innovative molecular therapies, that treat life-threatening conditions in early phase clinical trials. This new role will be interesting, diverse and rewarding with an opportunity to use your initiative to critically review and introduce new operational management improvements for the efficient running of the facility. Communication and engagement are key for this role, and you will need to build effective relationships across the organisation and beyond, resolve issues and share best practice with other facilities within the function. To start with, we will provide you with an extensive induction and training programme. This will provide you with the skills and knowledge you will need to develop operating in a GMP regulated facility. Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all business systems operate smoothly and align with the organisations quality standards to include oversight of business contracting process, facility, supply chain, inventory & financial management)
  • Maximising the efficiency and effectiveness of all business procedures through operational improvement measures, standardisation and innovation
  • Building new effective operational processes that meet our business objectives
  • Assisting in establishing, monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators
  • Monitoring financial data and recommend solutions for cost‑effectiveness
  • Working across organisational boundaries/functions and will take a key role in managing complex and influential stakeholder relationships
  • Collaborating strategically with other CBC operational teams (Production, Quality Control, Business Development) in ensuring improvement plans are created and delivered.

Experience and Knowledge
  • Management experience in a laboratory or operational environment
  • Management and Leadership skills and experience, including target setting and performance review
  • Experience of selection, training, development and motivation of staff.
  • Experience of managing the workload and staff to ensure effective service provision
  • Understanding budget management
  • Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Qualifications and Training
  • MSc in a relevant subject, OR Postgraduate Diploma level qualification AND additional post‑qualification knowledge gained through experience and further training.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
