A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Business Operations Lead to join their Government Client's Cyber Services team. This role, which offers a hybrid working model, involves building financial models, managing reports, and overseeing procurement processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in finance within a Central Government environment, strong analytical skills, and knowledge of public procurement policies. This position is crucial for improving efficiency and delivering value for money services in the public sector.

A Business Operations Lead is required for our Government Client to be part of their Cyber Services team to build and maintain clear models for how financial data aligns between their corporate tools eg. Oracle and UKSBS and team tracking tools. UKSBS is a public sector shared services center which provides HR, Finance, Payroll, Procurement and IT Services. This area of the business plays a crucial role in enhancing efficiency and delivering value for money services within the public sector.
As the Business Operations Lead you also track, manage and report financial information across their Cyber Services team, ensuring data accuracy and completeness at month end.
Produce high quality financial reports in collaboration with the finance business partner, supporting forecasting and budgeting cycles.
Review, raise and receipt purchase orders on their compliance tools, ensuring processes are efficient, traceable and compliant with departmental standards.
Improve reconciliation of actuals and automating recurring finance processes to reduce manual intervention.
Support the end-to-end procurement process and contract management of 3rd party suppliers, ensuring value for money and compliance with commercial controls.
Contribute to the preparation of business cases and financial inputs for programme boards.
Work closely with their central finance and commercial teams to ensure alignment on reporting standards, governance and approvals.
You will possess strong experience of using finance processes and data systems in a Central Government Department environment or wider public sector, including forecasting, budgeting, accruals, journals, invoicing and purchasing.
Experience in manipulating, analysing, and visualising data; confident using Excel, Google Sheets, Power BI, Power Apps, or Power Automate to create automated reports and workflows.
Experience of ensuring corporate systems accurately reflect the reality of what’s happening within project teams.
Experience supporting or managing procurement, contracting, and supplier management processes in a Central Government Department environment.
Experience of supporting Central Government Department procurement, including knowledge of Public Procurement Policy and commercial procurement frameworks and contracts.
Proficient in finance and resource management; a large proportion of this role will be to oversee forecasting and actual spend across.
Also to be knowledgeable on public sector procurement as you'll be involved in overseeing procurement as well.
The key areas that you will possess experience in for this role include finance/forecasting/budgeting/procurement/business cases and managing people.
