We're recruiting on behalf of a leading independent merchant group for a Business Manager to run one of their key locations. This role offers genuine autonomy, local decision‑making, and the opportunity to drive performance as though it were your own business.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading all daily operations of the branch, ensuring smooth, efficient performance
• Setting local sales strategy to grow customer spend, margin, and profitability
• Managing a dedicated team across trade counter, warehouse, administration, and delivery
• Developing strong relationships with local tradespeople and key accounts
• Overseeing stock levels, purchasing, forecasting and site cost control
• Ensuring high standards of safety, compliance, customer service, and branch presentation
• Coaching and developing your team to achieve their full potential

About You

• Experienced in leading a trade counter, merchant branch, or senior sales function within plumbing, heating, or bathroom supplies
• Commercially astute with a solid understanding of P&L, margins, and cost control
• Customer-focused with a passion for building local, long-term relationships
• Hands‑on, proactive, and comfortable with making local decisions quickly
• Strong communicator with excellent organisational and leadership skills
• Full UK driving licence (essential)
