Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Intelligence Lead to join the NENC ICB's Business Intelligence and Insight team. This is a pivotal role, providing leadership in the development and delivery of high-quality data insights and intelligence products that support commissioning, transformation, and performance improvement across the region.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, clinicians, and system partners to ensure that data is translated into actionable intelligence, enabling informed decision-making and driving improvements in health and care services.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of advanced analytical solutions, dashboards, and reports using tools such as SQL, Power BI, Python, R and other relevant platforms.
  • Provide expert analytical advice and interpretation of complex datasets, including population health, service utilisation, and financial data.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across the ICB and wider system to understand intelligence needs and translate them into effective BI solutions.
  • Support strategic planning and commissioning decisions through robust data modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with national standards and local policies.
  • Mentor and support junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the BI team.
  • Represent the BI function in multi-disciplinary programme boards and working groups, contributing to strategic initiatives and transformation programmes.

Our Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the largest in the country.

The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, and reducing health inequalities.

With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community-based area providers.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Education to Master\'s Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience at a similar level in a specialist area supported by professional development
  • Professionally qualified or undertaking professional development

Experience

  • Experience of system working between organisations/sectors
  • Knowledge of specialist areas acquired through postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master\'s level equivalent
