Job description

£34,834 – £39,186 Per Annum | 12-Month Fixed-Term | 37-Hour Week

As a Business Fire Safety Advisor (BFSA), you’ll play a key role in protecting people, property, and livelihoods across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. Supporting the Fire Authority’s statutory duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Building Safety Act 2022, you’ll work with local businesses to help them understand and meet their fire safety responsibilities.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Undertaking fire safety audits and inspections of simple premises
• Engaging proactively with businesses through visits, campaigns, and sector‑based initiatives
• Providing advice and guidance on fire risk assessments and compliance
• Supporting enforcement where serious risk or non‑compliance is identified
• Delivering fire safety awareness and business continuity advice
• Collaborating with local authorities, partner agencies, and regulators to reduce fire risk

This role combines technical fire safety work with engagement and education, supporting safer, more resilient business communities.
