A market-leading UK pensions institution is seeking a Business Engineering Developer to join its dynamic, cross-functional technology team. This is a rare opportunity to build and enhance the critical systems that underpin a multi-billion-pound insurance platform — spanning trading, operations, finance, and actuarial functions.

The role sits at the heart of the business, combining hands‑on development with meaningful collaboration across teams including Strats, Trading, Operations, and Risk. The successful candidate will contribute to a fast‑moving, technically ambitious environment that supports one of the most sophisticated pension risk transfer platforms in the market.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain core business systems.
• Trade and feed processing.
• Workflow management.
• Risk and finance reporting.
• User‑facing tools and interfaces.
• Design and build new applications using Python, ReactJS, SQL Server/PostgreSQL, and web services.
• Contribute to the firm’s proprietary codebase (built on a secure in‑house used across the financial industry).
• Partner closely with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to deliver pragmatic, high‑impact solutions.

About You

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, ideally in financial services (e.g. insurance, trading, or banking).
• Strong Python development skills and a willingness to work across a varied tech stack.
• Comfortable working with SQL databases, distributed systems, and modern web frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and best engineering practices.

Nice to Have

• Web development experience (Flask, React, JavaScript).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of proprietary financial engineering platforms (e.g. SecDB, Athena, or Quartz).
