Business Development Manager
Location: Southern Home Counties & Wessex
Salary: £50,000 + car allowance, fuel card, up to 25% bonus, and standard benefits
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a market-leading construction and maintenance business. You'll play a key role in driving new business growth while managing existing client relationships across the Southern Home Counties and Wessex regions.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building relationships, and wants to make a measurable impact on branch performance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Generating high-quality enquiries and opportunities to ensure your branch meets turnover targets.
- Splitting your week between new business generation (around 40%) and account management.
- Monitoring performance against targets and taking proactive steps to close any gaps.
- Building long-term relationships with key clients through regular contact, meetings, and events.
- Attending networking functions and client entertainment to strengthen your regional presence.
- Using the ERP system daily to manage pipelines, log opportunities, and maintain accurate data.
- Producing monthly sales reports and conducting branch reviews with your Branch Manager.
- Supporting bid submissions to ensure proposals are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Contributing to marketing and social media activity in collaboration with the Digital Marketing Coordinator.
- Managing quotations, following up on opportunities, and ensuring outstanding client communication.
- Developing partnerships with key supply chain partners such as Dulux, Crown, and PPG.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years' experience in business development and account management.
- Proven success managing multiple clients and driving new revenue growth.
- At least 1 year's experience selling services into public or private sector clients (e.g. Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Education, Health, Commercial, Retail, or Leisure).
- Industry background within construction, maintenance, or a Tier 1 Contractor is desirable.
- Strong communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills.
- Full UK driving licence required.
