Senior Business Development Manager – Road Freight (UK)
Contract: 9am – 5pm, 5 days per week.
Our client is an international 3PL expanding across the UK. They are seeking an experienced senior Business Development Manager for their Road Freight division. The role offers entrepreneurial freedom within a professional, non‑corporate culture.
Responsibilities
- Establish own leads and target via the internal tele‑sales team and/or email campaigns.
- Support the Branch and General Manager in maintaining current customer accounts and procuring new customers.
- Ensure excellent customer service is always provided.
- Proactively contact new customers according to targets mutually set and agreed with line manager.
- Actively sell and promote all of the company’s services once contact has been made.
- Prepare any quotations as required by the customer.
- Follow up as necessary.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date record of the above requirements and submit to line manager in report form on a weekly basis.
- Provide proactive, professional, first‑class customer service at all times.
- Use the sales management system to input customer details and carry out sales tasks.
- Generate sales reports using company software.
- Search for possible tenders and progress with current tenders.
- Manage people: work with the team to ensure customer service is always maintained.
- Communicate with all members of staff at all levels.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sales across road freight.
- Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality.
- Consistently manages the task in hand.
- Full UK driving licence.
