Qualifications

Job description
Business Continuity & Security Resilience Specialist

Location: Farnborough, with flexibility to work from home dependent on business demands.

What will you be doing?
  • Lead the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the BCMS in accordance with ISO 22301.
  • Conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) and risk assessments across all functions, programmes and bids to ensure alignment with contractual requirements.
  • Design and maintain continuity and recovery strategies, including crisis management, business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency response procedures.
  • Coordinate and facilitate exercises and simulations, including tabletop and live scenario testing, to validate continuity plans.
  • Monitor compliance and readiness, ensuring all plans meet internal audit standards and external regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and external partners, including customers, regulatory bodies and special interest groups, to ensure continuity expectations are met.
  • Report on BCMS performance, including metrics, gaps and improvement actions, to senior leadership and governance boards.
  • Stay current with evolving threats, technologies and regulatory changes affecting business continuity throughout our business area.
What do we need from you?
  • Proven experience in business continuity planning within a defence, government or critical infrastructure environment.
  • In‑depth knowledge and practical application of ISO 22301 and related standards such as ISO 27001.
  • Strong understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity and disaster recovery principles.
  • Experience conducting BIAs, risk assessments and continuity exercises.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant certification such as Certified Business Continuity Professional or ISO 22301 Lead Implementer / Auditor.
  • Member of the Business Continuity Institute.
  • Experience with governance, risk and compliance platforms and continuity planning tools.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
Security Clearance

BPSS pre‑screening is required to start the application. Candidates must be eligible for Developed Vetting Security Clearance.
