Can you do it?

Reporting to the Head of Risk and Assurance, you’ll oversee UK Biobank’s business continuity and risk frameworks, ensuring they meet the highest standards of operational resilience. You’ll coordinate incident management, testing, and audit readiness, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and compliance across all areas of the organisation.

This role offers the chance to work at the intersection of science, technology, and governance, ensuring that world‑leading research is underpinned by robust continuity and risk management practices.

You will be responsible for:

• Update and maintain the UK Biobank Business Continuity Plan and Business Impact Assessments in line with ISO 22301 and ISO 22317.
• Plan, coordinate and oversee business continuity testing exercises, crisis management simulations and follow‑up action tracking.
• Coordinate with business continuity teams to support organisational preparedness and resilience.
• Prepare and deliver business continuity and risk reporting, escalating issues as required.
• Provide risk and business continuity reporting to internal and external groups and committees.

Is this 'you'?

To be successful, you will have:

• Experience in business continuity, risk management, or assurance roles within regulated or complex environments.
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management Systems) and ISO 22317 (Business Impact Analysis).
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, deliver and follow up on business continuity testing and crisis management exercises.
• Excellent proficiency in risk reporting and proficiency in Microsoft Packages.
• Understanding of organisational risk frameworks, reporting, and governance.

Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and hybrid working is available.

Located in Greater Manchester (initially based in Stockport with a move to Manchester Science Park mid to late 2026). Occasional travel will be required to Oxford, London, and Imaging Centres.
