Job description
About the role

North Northamptonshire Council is committed to improving the lives of our residents through innovative and effective public services. We’re delivering a major change programme focused on IT infrastructure, replacing key case management systems, and enhancing service delivery across the organisation.

Join our Business Analysis team to help shape meaningful change in a collaborative and supportive environment.

We’re looking for motivated and detail‑oriented Business Analysts to join a team with broad experience inside and outside local government. We value teamwork, knowledge‑sharing, and a strong focus on delivering high‑quality outcomes for our residents and stakeholders.

Our analysts also work closely with stakeholders across the authority to identify cost‑saving opportunities and increase efficiency and productivity, helping services meet rising demand within tight financial constraints.

What will you be doing?

Implementation: Bridge the gap between supplier and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment of system capability with service requirements. Facilitate workshops, map ‘to‑be’ processes, work with suppliers to clarify configuration options, support data migration, testing, and maintain traceability between requirements and design decisions.

Process Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements to existing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Get involved in the design and implementation of new solutions where appropriate.

Stakeholder Management: Liaise with various departments, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project objectives and requirements.

Data Analysis: Use data‑driven insights to support decision‑making.

Options Appraisals: Work with stakeholders to make informed decisions through thorough analysis of identified options based on accumulated knowledge and insight.

Analyse and Document Requirements: Gather, document, and analyse business requirements for IT infrastructure projects and other case management system replacements.

Project Support: Provide support throughout the project lifecycle, from discovery to supporting business case development through to post‑implementation support such as user acceptance testing.

About you
Successful candidates should:
  • Have a degree or equivalent NVQ qualification or proven relevant experience of supporting business change.
  • Be able to display all‑round knowledge of the capabilities of ICT to meet business needs.
  • Be able to evidence experience of supporting business change through the application of a range of business analysis techniques.
  • Be able to evidence skills in, and experience of, the capture, analysis, and documentation of requirements for business change solutions.
  • Be able to evidence experience of business process analysis including use of process mapping and task analysis techniques and tools.
  • Experience of business process re‑engineering and design including process testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences.
  • Be able to show experience of supporting the development of business cases and able to carry out cost‑benefit analysis and risk analysis.
  • Have experience in the ability to carry out stakeholder analysis and facilitate group activities such as workshops.
