Pay Rate: £350 per day PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Assignment Length: 5 months
Working Arrangement: Hybrid – 2.5 days per week in office
Location: Bristol, BS1 5TR

Summary of what the candidate must have to apply
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Business Process Analyst in a change environment, applying lean, agile and waterfall approaches to deliver measurable improvements.
  • Strong facilitation skills across workshops and meetings, using a range of techniques to support end to end process redesign and resolve operational issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively at all levels and build solid working relationships.
  • Robust analytical and problem‑solving ability with the capacity to understand issues, interpret data and identify practical solutions.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload, prioritise and meet deadlines within quality and cost constraints.
The role

The postholder will review, analyse and evaluate business systems and user needs to redesign end to end processes from a customer‑centred standpoint. The work focuses on making processes more efficient, better supported by technology and aligned to project objectives. This includes mapping current and future workflows, writing specifications, analysing operational issues and helping to embed changes across service areas.

Key accountabilities
  • Gather and analyse business information to establish operational objectives and clear business requirements.
  • Produce workflow diagrams, process maps, use cases, user stories and future‑state designs.
  • Evaluate current practices and propose improvements, ensuring redesigned processes are efficient and controlled.
  • Contribute to project planning, defining milestones and validating resource requirements for business analysis activity.
  • Conduct targeted analysis to understand operational issues and provide insight.
  • Assess and communicate the financial and operational impact of change.
  • Develop a sound understanding of IT solutions to inform process design.
  • Support colleagues with knowledge transfer and the adoption of new processes.
  • Help ensure redesigned processes are embedded effectively and transitioned to operational ownership.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to build strong working relationships.
  • Contribute to the Business Analysis Community of Practice and support best practice across the council.

Desirable
  • SEB qualification in Business Analysis, Business Architecture or Enterprise Architecture.
  • Experience of local government environments.
  • Ability to work independently and lead specific workstreams.
  • Experience independently delivering business analysis outputs from start to finish.
  • Awareness of equalities and diversity issues relevant to the role.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications and willing to learn new systems.
