Job description

The role is one of support for the Business Affairs Department and is a wonderful chance to gain skills, knowledge and exposure in film financing, production and sales – with a particular focus on distribution and sales processes and documentation.

Working with the Business Affairs Department on matters including:

  • Contacting distributors and tracking receipt of payments on internal management system / charts
  • Processing invoices and payments related to distribution deals
  • Updating and circulating Business Affairs / closing documentation and distribution agreement updates
  • Liaising with production teams on tax forms, deliverables, compliance forms and other such production related details and documents needed for distribution deals
  • Tracking collection account management activity and status of contracts in negotiation
  • Coordinating signatures, including for various closing documents, such as Notices of Assignment
  • Liaising with the delivery team and distributors on delivery schedules and status of delivery (film materials and documentation)
  • Coordinating Withholding Tax reductions and refunds
  • Drafting and sending Notices of Delivery
  • Inputting information relating to distribution agreements, payments and deliveries on MovieChainer (rights management system)
  • Managing receipt and filing of royalty statements, including via our royalty management software
  • Interpreting royalty statements and tracking overages
  • Contributing to team meetings on collections, delivery, including hosting and organising the agenda for Business Affairs-centric meetings
  • Film Market scheduling for the Business Affairs team
  • Researching and co-ordinating international grant and subsidy opportunities and guidelines with relation to co-productions and national governments
  • Preparing charts (e.g. presales collateral, distributor reporting status, holdbacks summaries) and developing proficiency in presenting important updates on closing calls, etc.
  • Scope to develop contractual drafting skills for distribution agreements and other essential documents
Person specifications
  • Strong desire to learn and develop skills, with capacity to build a thorough understanding of rights/sales data management including data input
  • Must be a motivated self-starter who can prioritise and complete multiple tasks at a time
  • Must be comfortable working in a varied, high-speed and demanding environment and be a team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to deal with a wide range of people at all levels of careers / stakeholders
  • High level of organisational skills
  • Proficient utilisation of Office Package (including Excel), Google Suite, e-Signature tools
  • Passion for cinema and a keen interest in entertainment industries is a plus!
