Job summary

The Children’s Society in Chelmsford, Essex, is seeking a Business & Administration Support Officer (East) to join our team. This permanent, office-based role offers 28 hours per week and funds to 31 March 2028. The post supports operational management and provides essential admin support across Essex services.

You will prioritise workloads, work well in a team, and handle routine administration. The role includes full benefits and safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

  • The ability to prioritise and manage own workload (essential).
  • The ability to work confidently alone and as part of a team (essential).
  • Previous experience of working in an administrative position in a paid or voluntary capacity (essential).
  • Level 2 admin based qualification (desirable)
  • Understanding and working knowledge of data protection (desirable)
  • Previous experience of communicating with members of the public, as service users or customers, in a paid or voluntary capacity (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Support the operational management of services in Essex by providing high quality business administration support.
  • Assist with day-to-day admin tasks and coordination to ensure smooth service delivery.

About the role:
You’ll play a key part in supporting the operational management of our services in the Essex by providing high quality business administration support.

We’re looking for an efficient and well organised Business Administration & Support Officer with the ability to support our services to make a real impact in the lives of children and young people.

Key skills and experience:

The required skills and competencies for this role are:

  • The ability to prioritise and manage own workload (essential).
  • The ability to work confidently alone and as part of a team (essential).
  • Previous experience of working in an administrative position in a paid or voluntary capacity (essential).

It would also be an advantage if you have any of the following skills and competencies:

  • Level 2 admin based qualification (desirable)
  • Understanding and working knowledge of data protection.
  • Previous experience of communicating with members of the public, as service users or customers, in a paid or voluntary capacity (desirable).
