About the team
The Service Delivery team support laboratory operations and provide a vital link for the scientists and other operations teams such as Health and Safety (H&S), HR, Procurement, Finance, Logistics and Facilities & Infrastructure (F&I). You will provide an efficient administrative and operational service that help our laboratories run smoothly. You will work alongside the Asset Manager to support the maintenance and lifecycle of our scientific equipment, including:
- Working closely with the Quadrant Laboratory Managers (QM) and Laboratory Operations Technicians (LOT)
- Working on a range of projects supporting continuous improvement
- Developing an understanding of different parts of the organisation
Duties
The Business Administration Apprentice will:
- Develop an understanding of the organisation and how the Service Delivery team supports its goals
- Develop an understanding of asset management software and how these platforms support the organisation’s needs.
- Develop knowledge of scientific equipment and the role of asset management in facilitating scientific activities.
- Assist with data entry and maintaining accurate and organized records.
- Learn to manage new asset registration and changes to asset records on databases, ensuring the correct fields are populated to support the asset effectively throughout its lifecycle.
- Learn to perform data analysis and trends from databases, producing written and verbal reports to help decision making relating to scientific assets.
- Develop an understanding of financial and regulatory policies and how they apply to scientific asset use and management.
- Contribute to the planning of annual equipment servicing programmes; collating data on service level requirements of relevant assets to support the Asset Manager with service contract procurement.
- Respond to queries from stakeholders, providing information or directing them to the appropriate team members.
- Participate in meetings, working closely across teams to share knowledge and contribute to process improvements.
- Communicate effectively with the QM and LOT team on matters relating to the management of scientific assets; providing guidance and feedback on the management of assets that helps them fulfil their responsibilities.
- Develop an understanding of the control of works and contractor management to ensure service visits relating to scientific assets are performed in a safe and timely manner.
- Assist with regular asset auditing programmes in line with financial and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development and roll out of new initiatives relating to scientific asset management.

Be at Level 2 standard in English and maths (those without certificates can be assessed to check you are at the appropriate standard)

- Not have a Business administration qualification at level 3 or higher
- Not be an overseas national subject to employment or learning restrictions and/or a time or a limit on my stay (other than a refugee or asylum seeker)
- Be ordinarily resident in the England, EU or EAA for at least the previous three years before the start of the programme ((other than a refugee or asylum seeker)
- Not be attending any other school, Further Education or Higher Education institution.
Working Hours: 36 hours per week - (Mon-Thu 09:00-17:15, Fri 09:00-17:00)
