Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Customer Service Apprentice to join our busy Accident and Emergency Reception & Administration Team based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. You will have the chance to earn a salary, gain valuable work experience and learn new skills while being supported to achieve a professional qualification. This role is varied and offers a foundation for future careers within the NHS.

Apprenticeship Training Details

The role is a fixed‑term contract of 15 months under the Apprenticeship Standard Customer Service Practitioner, Level 4. Training will be provided by Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training Association. Compensation is the National Apprentice wage: £5.28 per hour (£10,296) for the first 12 months, increasing to the minimum wage from month 13‑15. The apprentice will work 37.5 hours per week, with on‑job and off‑job learning opportunities and 6 hours of paid study time each week. Upon completion, apprentices are eligible to apply for NHS roles.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deal with sensitive situations with tact and understanding.
  • Observe absolute confidentiality of all information obtained.
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade as requested by the A&E Reception Supervisor.
  • To comply with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Register patients onto the hospital OASIS computer system and admit them.
  • Book in patients who arrive by ambulance.
  • Prioritise workload according to departmental demands.
