Description
We are seeking motivated and proactive Bus Service Coordinators to join our Rail Replacement Team, coordinating and managing rail replacement activities across the London area.
This is a key operational role within our London Rail Replacement operations, acting as the immediate point of contact for Transport for London (TfL) and overseeing both pre-planned and emergency transport services to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient response during times of disruption.
Please note: due to the nature of the work, this position is offered on a zero-hours contract basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively manage and coordinate all rail replacement operations within the London area.
- Monitor, support, and report on the performance and activities of on-site Rail Replacement Controllers.
- Manage and oversee operations on a 24/7 rota basis, covering a variety of shift patterns.
- Act as the primary operational contact for TfL, ensuring a professional, responsive, and customer-focused service.
- Deliver training, coaching, and ongoing development for team members, identifying training needs and conducting assessments for both new and existing staff.
- Work closely with the Commercial Services Team to develop and deliver training programmes that enhance understanding of operational and contractual requirements.
- Provide accurate administrative and operational support to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and partner organisations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Have a strong understanding of customer and stakeholder needs, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement effective action plans.
- Be an excellent communicator, able to engage confidently with all levels of staff and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and motivational skills, with experience in managing teams to achieve performance targets and operational excellence.
- Be strategic and forward-thinking, able to anticipate potential issues and take proactive steps to prevent or resolve them.
- Remain calm, organised, and logical when working under pressure or during fast-changing operational situations.
- Be highly organised, able to prioritise effectively and manage a demanding workload.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Be confident using IT systems and reporting tools.
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach, including a willingness to work outside of normal hours when required to meet operational demands.
