Job summary

First Bus London, part of First Group, is seeking an experienced Engineer to maintain and service our fleet at Hounslow Garage. You will conduct routine inspections and repairs to engines, transmissions, chassis, braking and electrical systems while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will work with operations staff and drivers to keep services reliable, balancing workloads and prioritising tasks.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 or equivalent in vehicle mechanical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• PSV driving licence required.
• Experience in bus/coach/HGV mechanical engineering.
• Familiar with DVSA PSV inspection standards and regs.
• Proficient with diagnostic test equipment and OEM tools.
• Good IT skills: Outlook and Excel.
• Able to work shifts 7 on 3 off /7 on 4 off

Responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicle inspections and servicing.
• Conduct reactive maintenance and repairs using diagnostics.
• Repair engines, transmissions, chassis, braking and electrical systems.
• Coordinate with drivers and operations staff for reliable service.
• Prioritise workload to maintain efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
