Buildings Supervisor – Sheffield Primary Schools

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking reliable and skilled Buildings Supervisors for flexible, supply work across a variety of primary schools in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Site Supervisor, Caretaker, or someone with a strong background in building maintenance who is looking for flexible hours. You will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, secure, and well‑maintained environment for staff and pupils.

The Role

As a supply Buildings Supervisor, you will provide cover for short‑term and long‑term absences, working independently to support the day‑to‑day running of school premises. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Opening and closing school premises and acting as a keyholder.
  • Carrying out routine and minor repairs, such as plumbing, joinery, and general maintenance.
  • Performing regular health and safety checks and acting upon any issues.
  • Supervising cleaning staff and ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
  • Liaising with contractors for larger maintenance tasks.
  • Managing school deliveries and carrying out porterage duties.
  • Ensuring the school grounds and external areas are kept safe and tidy.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience in a caretaking, site supervisor, or similar role.
  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures and building maintenance.
  • Excellent practical and DIY skills.
  • A flexible, proactive, and reliable approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • An Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one through Tradewind.
