Do you want to use your interest and expertise in M&E and Project management to support the delivery of essential services to East Sussex residents? If you are passionate about ensuring workplaces are comfortable and safe through maintaining and improving the built environment, we want to hear from you! As a Building Maintenance Surveyor (M&E) with East Sussex County Council, you will play a key role in maintaining our diverse property portfolio. You will be responsible for developing, managing, and delivering both planned and reactive maintenance projects, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with statutory requirements. Using your technical expertise, you will assess M&E and general maintenance installations, specify, and oversee works, and provide technical advice to colleagues, contractors, and client departments.

  • RQF Level 6 qualification or equivalent in a relevant building discipline
  • Ability to plan and organise a varied workload for self and others, working to short deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people in a clear, concise and accurate manner, changing messages to suit different audiences, ability to engage and work in collaboration with others
  • Ability to use technology as part of the role including Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and asset management systems on laptops, corporate iPhones and surface hubs.
  • Technical knowledge of building repairs, maintenance and Legislation.
  • Experience of managing complex construction projects in a technical buildings related environment
