Job description
Overview

Reporting to the Voids Contract Manager, you will deliver a full range of professional surveying services within the Voids Service Area. Babergh and Mid-Suffolk District Councils are going through an exciting period of change, with a new operating model being developed for the Repairs, Maintenance and Voids team within our Housing Directorate. This is your opportunity to join our new team at inception and to help shape the future of our Housing Repairs and Maintenance Team.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure statutory and industry best practices are followed.
  • Provide expert technical advice.
  • Offer support and guidance on building-related matters and enquiries, often of a complex or multifaceted nature.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements and help deliver top‑quartile performance within the Voids Service.
  • Work in a hybrid schedule: office, home, and remote as business needs permit, supporting flexibility and collaboration.
Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for a professionally qualified Surveyor with significant experience, ideally within a responsive repairs service or voids team. Key responsibilities include producing clear, detailed specifications of multi‑trade works using schedule of rates and managing the programme of work to completion. You will be confident using IT systems for job management to ensure works are delivered by our Voids Contractor within service level agreements/KPI's and the allocated budget. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as you will be the point of contact for stakeholders, contractors, and customers. You should be an enthusiastic team player with a positive, solution‑driven approach, putting residents at the heart of everything you do and striving to provide excellence of service. A full valid UK driving licence is essential to perform the duties of this role.
