Job description

A client within the Public Sector based in North Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join their Align Property Services team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or housing maintenance environment.

The Role

The key purpose of the role is to carry out professional building surveying duties across the Council’s housing stock, supporting the delivery of property condition assessments, maintenance planning, and compliance assurance.

Key responsibilities
  • Conducting detailed condition surveys and inspections of residential housing stock
  • Preparing technical reports, specifications, and maintenance recommendations
  • Providing professional advice on building pathology, refurbishment, and asset management
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory building regulations and health & safety standards
  • Liaising with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to support project delivery
  • Maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with Council procedures
The Candidate

To be considered for this role, you will require:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline
  • Full professional membership (or working towards) of RICS or CIOB
  • Proven experience conducting building surveys and condition assessments
Beneficial skills

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Experience working within a local authority, housing association, or public sector environment
  • Strong technical understanding of building construction, defects, and maintenance planning
  • Excellent communication and report‑writing skills

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £30 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £25 per hour PAYE).
