The Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, specialist engineering and surveying consultancy based in London. The business works extensively on existing buildings, providing defect inspections, condition surveys, and technical reports for a range of clients.

Building Surveyor

We are now looking to appoint a building surveyor with strong experience in building inspections, defect identification, and report writing.

The Role

Hands‑on surveying role focused on inspecting existing buildings and producing clear, professional reports. The role is not commercial surveyingled and does not focus on dilapidations or valuations.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Carrying out building inspections and surveys on existing buildings
  • Identifying and assessing building and structural defects
  • Producing written defect and condition reports with clear findings and recommendations
  • Advising clients on remedial works and next steps
  • Attending site visits across London
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and other consultants
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Building Surveyor or in a building inspection role
  • Strong background in defect surveys, condition surveys, and report writing
  • Experience inspecting existing buildings
  • Good written communication skills for technical reporting
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable (Not Essential)
  • MRICS, working towards MRICS, or Chartered Engineer (CEng) background
  • Consultancy or local authority experience
  • Experience with residential and / or commercial buildings
  • Knowledge of building regulations and health & safety requirements
Important

This role is inspection and reporting focused. It is not suitable for candidates looking for quantity surveying, valuation, or purely commercial surveying roles.
