Building Surveyor - Poole - £34.08 an hour (Umbrella)

A Local Authority based in Poole is recruiting for an Interim Building Surveyor to join their Property Services team.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for the effective management of both external and internal contractors delivering a range of planned and responsive maintenance projects, cyclical works, and refurbishment schemes. The role involves regular site meetings, contractor and resident liaison, and ensuring all works are completed to high standards of quality, cost, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee contractors delivering maintenance, refurbishment, and improvement projects.
  • Carry out pre- and post-inspections, diagnose building defects, and prepare budget estimates.
  • Produce drawings, specifications, and tender documents in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety standards and construction regulations.
  • Monitor performance, quality, and financial control across all assigned projects.
Experience & Knowledge Required
  • Strong knowledge of contract and project management techniques, including cost and quality control.
  • Advanced understanding of construction-related regulations, legislation, and processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and its application within building, engineering, maintenance, and repair works.
  • Proven experience in delivering property maintenance and refurbishment projects within a local authority or similar environment.
