Join our Estates Services team at the University of Oxford and play a key role in maintaining, protecting, and enhancing our world‑class, historic university estates.

Location: The Malthouse, Tidmarsh Lane, Oxford, OX1 1NQ

Salary: £49,119 - £58,265 per annum (with a possible extension to £63,489 per annum)

Contract: Full‑time, Fixed Term Contract (3 years)

About the Role

As a Building Surveyor, you will lead the delivery of planned maintenance, complex repairs, refurbishment, and conservation projects across the University’s portfolio, with a particular emphasis on residential and graduate properties.

You will manage projects from investigation and specification through to completion, working closely with colleagues, consultants, and contractors to ensure work is safe, high quality, cost‑effective, and delivered with minimal disruption.

This is a visible, customer‑facing role where your professional judgement will directly influence building performance, safety, and long‑term maintenance strategy, while also supporting team development and continuous improvement.

About you

We are keen to hear from candidates who bring:

  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body (RICS or CIOB) with experience in building surveying and project management
  • Strong technical knowledge of traditional and modern building construction and British safety regulation
  • Proven experience managing contractors and delivering repairs and maintenance projectsA confident, collaborative approach, with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to customer service
  • The ability to manage a varied workload independently, using digital systems to record, track, and report on work effectively
