A local government authority in the UK is seeking a professional to assist in the implementation and delivery of Building Standards services. The role requires relevant qualifications in Building Surveying and prior experience in site surveying and construction technology. A commitment to professional development and a valid driving licence are essential. This position offers flexibility in working arrangements, including potential home or hybrid options.
Hourly rate of pay: £21.99 - £24.50
Days and Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00. Flexi time is applicable, and starting and finishing times are flexible. To start asap.
Home Working Consideration: Applications for homeworking or hybrid working will be considered for this post, in accordance with East Lothian Council’s Home Working and Worksmart Policies which can be found in the policy documents. Home or Hybrid working options can be discussed with candidates invited for interview. All applicants must live in the UK and will be expected to attend Council offices from time to time as required.
Please note: All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. Where an application for home-working is supported, it will be subject to a satisfactory trial period. Employees will be expected to attend Council offices for the duration of induction, and be on site in East Lothian workplaces, as required. Employees with a hybrid working arrangement in place will be office based and able to work from home, with permission, on an ad hoc basis.
Assist in the implementation and delivery of Building Standards services, maximising efficiency of service delivery within specific standards and approved budgets and in accordance with the Council’s legal and statutory obligations and its policies and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.

Relevant Qualifications: Educated to HND/Degree Level or equivalent level in Building Surveying or relevant discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience in site surveying, construction technology and the conversion and adaptation of buildings. S/he must also have experience of Scottish Law for Construction and the Statutory Control of Buildings.

Driving Licence: As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
