Job summary

Rothamsted Research in North Wyke, Devon, is seeking a Mechanical/Plumbing Building Services Engineer to join our Estates and Facilities team on a permanent, full-time basis (37 hours per week). The role covers maintenance across laboratories, workshops, offices and residential properties, with a focus on reactive repairs, planned maintenance and fault diagnosis.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with heating and hot water systems, pumps, valves, and related mechanical plant, and

Qualifications

• Qualified maintenance professional with full UK driving licence.
• Experience in mechanical, plumbing or building services maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Ability to perform physical maintenance and work at height.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on plumbing and mechanical building services.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose and repair faults on heating and hot water systems, pumps and valves.
• Record maintenance activities and follow-up actions in CAFM.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues and plant breakdowns.
