Job description

We are seeking a Building Services Engineer (Electrical) to join our VIVO Technical Services team, providing expert leadership across electrical engineering, compliance, and safety. This is a unique opportunity to step into a role where your expertise will directly impact the security, compliance, and efficiency of complex MOD estates. As the customer focal point and Qualified Supervisor (QS), you will ensure all electrical installations and maintenance meet BS7671, BS5266, and NIC/EIC standards, while also acting as an Authorised Person (HV & LV). This isn't just a technical role—it’s a leadership position where you'll guide teams, audit compliance, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead, supervise, and inspire our electrical engineering team and sub-contractors, overseeing inspection, testing, and maintenance in line with BS7671 and BS5266 standards. You will take ownership of compliance and governance to NIC/EIC accredited standards, ensuring statutory excellence. You will provide assurance, audits, and professional technical advice on electrical safety systems and act as an Authorised Person (HV/LV), controlling high‑risk engineering activities. Supporting planned and reactive maintenance will also form part of your responsibilities, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards. You will build strong working relationships with MOD stakeholders, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, and compliance authorities.

Qualifications

You will be qualified to the 18th Edition with C&G 2391 (Inspection & Testing), and hold NVQ L3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent (ECS Approved Electrician status). You must have previous experience as an Electrical Qualified Supervisor (QS) with strong knowledge of BS7671, BS5266, and NIC/EIC accreditation requirements. Experience as an Authorised Person (HV & LV) under JSP 375 is essential, and you must be a UK National with eligibility for SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if you also hold CompEx certifications (Ex01‑06, Ex12, Ex14) and have E&I inspection experience in the oil, gas, or chemical industries. Additional fire safety or health and safety management training (SMSTS or equivalent), as well as proven leadership skills, would further strengthen your application. Due to the nature of this role, you must be a UK National, over 18, and able to obtain and maintain SC Clearance.
