Building Services Contract Manager

M&E Service Provider, Commercial Building – City of London

£65-70,000 Salary, Car Allowance, Annual Bonus, Pension, and other benefits.

Our customer is one of the leading FM and HVAC services providers in the UK with global coverage. They seek a Contract Manager to run one of their long-held accounts for a large museum based near Oxford Street in Central London. The organisation is responsible for planned and reactive maintenance to electrical, mechanical and general building services systems within this building, man‑management of a team of multi‑skilled engineers, support staff and liaison with specialist contractors to deliver a 5* service. Guideline salary for this position is up to £70,000 for the right individual, while the package includes a car allowance (£5,000) and a discretionary bonus of up to 20%, as well as a standard company pension.

Day-to-day duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible and full accountability for operational service delivery, financial management (P&L), people management, compliance and risk management.
  • Delivery of contractual commitments and monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to the client.
  • Delivery of internal monthly reporting and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Evaluate applicable proposals and required changes to services identifying financial, personnel and operational performance implication and improvements.
  • Responsible for contract strategic alignment and development, exploiting and securing all opportunities to deliver increased turnover and profitability.
  • Ensure succession planning arrangements are in place.
  • Ensuring business policies and processes are effectively communicated and implemented within the contract, with a key focus on QHSE, statutory legislation, Health & Wellbeing and DE&I.
  • Engages executive involvement as needed to leverage the broader business to introduce new scope & business pricing, as part of delivering an integrated set of services.
  • Direct management and engagement of preferred/approved supply chain.
  • Sets and supports the overall strategic vision and delivers best in class operational service to help enhance the workplace experience.
  • Delivering complex projects and ensuring successful delivery.
  • Risk management – identify risk and adopt appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Compliance management – ensuring all activities comply with current statutory legislation.

While candidates do not need to be qualified in engineering, it is preferable; any interested parties must have a demonstrable history of delivering M&E maintenance or TFM contracts within a commercial / corporate services environment.

Person Specification

  • Experience as an operational and service-focused leader, in a similar role.
  • Possess solid understanding of contract commercials.
  • Be innovative & have proven capabilities to develop & grow contracts / portfolio.
  • Experience at interfacing at all levels throughout an organisation.
  • Able to command credibility and can influence a broad range of stakeholders.
  • High level of personal credibility, customer relationship management, networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven change management experience in the development & implementation of strategic plans.
  • Exceptional collaboration and community building skills.
  • Understanding of contracts and commercial models in the market.
  • Understanding of industry knowledge and trends.
