Job summary

A leading construction consultancy in Birmingham seeks a Building Safety Consultant to advise clients on building safety matters, develop documentation, and support compliance with the Building Safety Act. The ideal candidate will have experience in the residential sector and safety management systems, with excellent interpersonal skills. The role offers a salary of £55k - £65k plus an excellent benefits package including car allowance, pension, and healthcare.

Qualifications

  • You may hold or be working towards the CIOB Diploma in Building Safety Management.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or further safety qualifications are required.
  • Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or CIOB is preferred.
  • Qualification and/or experience in fire safety is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support and advise clients on building safety matters.
  • Develop building safety documentation.
  • Work with clients to implement safety management systems.

Skills

Experience of working with safety management systems

Job description

Building Safety Consultant required to join a well-established construction consultancy. You will be experienced in residential building safety and keen to pursue a career in consulting and work with a broad range of clients across the built environment.

The role offers hybrid working with a connection to the company's Birmingham office. Projects and clients are based across the Midlands.

You will work with clients in the residential sector, including owner/managers of Higher-Risk Buildings, to support and advise clients on building safety matters and developing building safety documentation.

The role has been created due to the changes taking place in the industry relating to the Building Safety Act. The company are offering further training to gain qualifications outlined below.

The role could suit a housing association professional or similar working environment with experience in the sector, preferably as a building or fire safety manager. Excellent interpersonal skills are required due to the client-facing nature of the role.

Qualifications
  • You may hold, be working towards or interested in gaining the CIOB Diploma in Building Safety Management qualification.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or further safety qualifications.
  • Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or CIOB.
  • Qualification and/or experience in fire safety desirable.
Experience
  • Experience of working with (implementing, improving, developing) safety management systems.
  • Experience in writing and implementing a resident engagement strategy.
  • Knowledge and experience in writing building safety cases and reports preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience of statutory compliance for building and fire safety.
