Job description

A client within the Public Sector based in County is currently recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their Building Control Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a Building Control environment.

The Role

The key purpose of the role is to support the delivery of a customer-focused Building Control service, ensuring that construction work across the Borough complies with Building Regulations and associated legislation, and protecting public safety in and around the built environment.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Assessing building regulation applications and checking plans for compliance
  • Carrying out site inspections at various stages of construction
  • Responding to dangerous structures and participating in the out-of-hours emergency rota
  • Providing technical advice to applicants, agents, builders and stakeholders
  • Supporting enforcement action where required, including preparing reports and attending court
The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Regulations, Approved Documents and associated legislation
  • Competent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and digital systems
  • The ability to undertake site inspections, including working at height or in confined spaces

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • Experience of enforcement work and/or court proceedings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of current construction methods, best practice and industry developments

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £50 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £40per hour PAYE).
