Overview

Associate Director - Building Control. Remote and flexible working. North West Team. Travel - 1 or 2 days per week maximum. Salary: £80k - £95k + Depending on experience.

This role will see you manage an established team with existing BSR and commercial projects across Merseyside, Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire, meaning you haven't got to build from scratch but you will have the autonomy to grow the unit how you think is best.

From recruitment to people management, you'll still have your own workload so it isn’t a role where you don’t get to do what you enjoy as well. You’ll be able to delegate some workload to the Principal Surveyors in the team which will help them succeed into future managers and develop your careers allowing you to progress with yours.

There is scope to move into a Director position within this role and you'll join the Senior Management team with a collaborative culture. While you are in a senior role, the dynamic at this company is less hierarchical which helps with staff retention and likely why the team stay engaged. This is aligned with implementing strategies you may not always agree with.

The project load is varied and you will work across all industries in the position. You will be client facing and managing client relationships and supporting the team with problem builds, dispute resolution or more complex technical issues.

What you will do in the role

• Leading the established Building Control team
• Allocating and delegating workloads
• Monitoring and managing P&L reports
• Dispute resolution or handling client complaints
• Training and development of staff including support teams
• Working with internal teams; finance, commercial, marketing and HR
• Monitoring CPD for yourself and your team
• Recruitment of new staff including RBIs
• Producing reports
• People management and mentoring
• Strategy development
• Identifying new revenue streams
• Allocating work to the regional Building Control teams
• Ownership over a region overseeing client relationships, and all P&L and commercial targets
• Carrying out inspections of work on a wide range of projects; checking plans, drawings in accordance with Building Regulations
• Auditing of records to ensure compliance
