Job summary

London Borough of Bexley is seeking a Best Start In Life Inclusion Practitioner to deliver universal and targeted interventions for families with under‑5 children, ensuring access to quality play and EYFS-aligned sessions.

The role involves assessment, planning and hands‑on support in partnership with parents and children, addressing development, parenting, healthy eating and home learning. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children 0–5 in community/early years settings.
  • Track record of collaborating with health, education and early years services.
  • Experience delivering interventions and measuring impact.
  • Knowledge of child development and early identification of additional needs (SEND).
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Job description

About The Role

As a Best Start In Life Inclusion Practitioner, you will work as a member of the Education team delivering universal and targeted, co-ordinated interventions to families with children under the age of 5 ensuring access to good quality play opportunities and sessions meeting Early Years Foundation Stage requirements.

You will contribute to assessment, planning and intervention for families and will work in partnership with parents and children providing practical, hands‑on support, information, advice, and guidance covering a range of issues such as children’s developmental needs, behaviour management, parenting strategies, healthy eating and developing the home learning environment ensuring children are school ready.

Candidate Profile
  • Have experience of working directly with children (0-5) in community, early years or related settings.
  • Have a track record of multi‑agency collaboration with health, education and early years services
  • Have experience of delivering interventions and measuring impact
  • Have knowledge of child development and early identification of additional needs, including SEND
  • Have a strong understanding of the Early Years Framework
  • Be passionate about inclusion, early intervention and improving outcomes for children

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
