We have a new opportunity for a Broadcast Systems Engineer to join our team in London. You will have the opportunity to join as a core member of a global team of broadcast engineers, designing, building, and supporting the infrastructure, workflows, and facilities underpinning world‑class live experiences for Apple Services.

Description

This position involves close collaboration with production, operations, and engineering partners to maintain operational excellence across all broadcast systems. You will help architect and operate mission‑critical systems to support high‑profile live music and sports broadcasts. The position requires making quick technical decisions under pressure, implementing innovative solutions to complex broadcast challenges, and taking ownership of systems that directly impact Apple's content delivery. This role demands independent decision‑making and the ability to drive complex technical projects from concept through deployment. This opportunity requires flexibility to work during evenings, weekends and/or overnight to support live sport and entertainment broadcasts. Travel may also be required for facility builds and major broadcast events.

Responsibilities
  • Design system improvements and implement enhancements to optimise performance and reliability.
  • Provide first‑ and second‑line technical support for broadcast systems and their users.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and system health monitoring to minimise service disruptions.
  • Track and resolve technical issues using internal documentation and reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver reliable technical infrastructure.
  • Build and commission world‑class broadcast facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a senior broadcast systems engineer, broadcast guarantee (EIC), or equivalent.
  • Familiar working as a broadcast engineer in a modern live sports environments.
  • Experience with both on‑premises and cloud‑based broadcast workflows.
  • Experience working with multichannel audio standards (such as Dolby Atmos) and their integration within broadcast environments.
  • Proficient working with broadcast standards and formats including SMPTE 2110, JPEG‑XS, HEVC, and similar technologies.
  • Excellent communicator, able to distil technical details in appropriate ways to a range of recipients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A background in sports content acquisition and distribution is ideal!
  • Comfortable supporting high‑demand production environments (sports and light entertainment).
  • Proficient configuring and troubleshooting broadcast control systems and automation platforms.
  • Experience with IP‑based broadcast networks and software‑defined networking architectures.
  • Familiar with production hardware including vision mixers, multiviewers, and routing systems.
  • Experience with audio production systems including mixing consoles, intercom systems, and audio routing infrastructure.
  • Confident with replay systems, graphics engines, and video processors.
  • Knowledge of streaming protocols, content delivery networks, and OTT platform requirements.
