Job summary

Nomura Holdings, Inc. is seeking an Associate/VP in London for BRM XVA trading to optimise resources and support the corporate derivatives business across EMEA, Americas, and Asia ex-Japan.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of XVA metrics (CVA, DVA, FVA, KVA, MVA) and their drivers.

• Strong quantitative skills to analyse portfolios and model resource consumption.
• Proficiency in Python/SQL for data extraction and automation; Excel/VBA for modelling.

The Business Resource Management (BRM) team is an established team in charge of XVA trading (CVA, FVA, KVA) as well as management of financial resources and optimisation of their usage. The team is looking to hire an Associate, based in London, who will help support its corporate derivatives business in EMEA, Americas, and Asia ex-Japan.

Role Description:

• Active Resource Management & Optimisation – Proactively manage and optimise business resources including balance sheet, capital, funding, and regulatory exposures to maximise efficiency and reduce costs
• Opportunity Analysis & Trade Structuring – Identify, analyse, and quantify optimisation opportunities across the portfolio; structure and execute trades to realise resource savings and capital relief
• Multilateral Optimisation Execution – Run, coordinate, and continuously develop multilateral optimisation exercises with internal and external counterparties to compress exposures and reduce resource consumption
• Business Partnership & Resource Strategy – Build strong partnerships with trading desks, structuring teams, and business to understand resource drivers, develop tailored optimisation strategies, and improve resource usage over time
• Regulatory Model Development – Work closely with finance, risk, and regulatory teams to understand, challenge, and enhance regulatory capital models (SA-CCR, IMM, CVA capital) and their impact on business economics
• XVA Pricing Support – Assist in the pricing and structuring of XVA components (CVA, FVA, KVA, MVA) for large or complex transactions, ensuring accurate resource attribution and competitive pricing

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

• XVA & Derivatives Expertise – Deep understanding of XVA metrics (CVA, DVA, FVA, KVA, MVA) and their drivers; strong knowledge of derivatives products across asset classes (rates, credit, FX, equity)
• Regulatory Capital Frameworks – Working knowledge of Basel III capital requirements, SA-CCR, IMM, CVA capital charge, and leverage ratio calculations
• Quantitative & Analytical Ability – Strong quantitative skills with the ability to analyse complex portfolios, model resource consumption, and identify optimisation opportunities using data-driven approaches
• Programming & Data Analysis – Proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar languages for data extraction, analysis, and automation; experience with Excel/VBA for modelling and reporting
• Risk & Pricing Systems – Familiarity with front-office risk systems, XVA pricing platforms, and trade capture systems; ability to work with large datasets and reconcile across multiple sources
• Stakeholder Management – Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to build trusted partnerships with traders, structurers, finance, risk, and operations teams
• Commercial Acumen – Strong business sense with the ability to translate technical analysis into actionable commercial recommendations and P&L impact
• Project Management – Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Collaboration & Negotiation – Experience working across functions and with external counterparties; strong negotiation skills for multilateral optimisation exercises
• Educational Background – Degree in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science); advanced degree (MSc, PhD) or CFA desirable
