London/ permanent / £25,448 - 28,739 per year

TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Chingford that is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced BSL Teacher to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and dedicated educator to make a real difference to pupils who rely on British Sign Language as part of their learning experience. This East London school has a heavy focus on SEND inclusion and Deaf pupils, so it is important you have the correct understanding before applying for the role.

The successful BSL Teacher will:

Deliver engaging and accessible lessons using British Sign Language (BSL) across EY-KS2

Support pupils with hearing impairments to access the curriculum and develop communication skills.

Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and the SENCO to ensure pupil's educational and emotional needs are met.

Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

A recognised BSL qualification (minimum Level 2; Level 3 desirable).

Experience supporting or teaching children who use BSL, preferably within a school setting.

A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
