Job summary

Associated British Ports in Lowestoft is seeking a LPS Operator to ensure safe operation of the Gull Wing Bridges and support the port LPS function for navigation safety.

You will work a 12-hour shift on a rolling rota including nights, with responsibilities across port services, emergency response and liaison with vessel agents and customers. A background in marine operations is essential.

Qualifications

• Marine background or knowledge.
• Knowledge of Port Operations and Port Emergency Plans.
• Ability to work on a rostered shift pattern which includes unsociable hours.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Local Port Services functions at Lowestoft including 24hr port VHF radio and front desk telephone cover.
• Operate and implement port flood warning service.
• Issue ABP permissions for diving and hot work on ABP berths and ensure compliance.
• Report unsafe practices or dangerous situations to initiate appropriate response.
• Liaise with ABP staff, contractors, vessel agents, owners and customers.
• Safely operate the Lowestoft Bridges per procedures and assist with emergencies.
