Job summary

BEAR Scotland Limited is actively seeking a Bridge Inspector to join our team across Inverness, Perth, Corpach and Killin. This full-time role involves site visits, inspections at height, access-system use, and contributing toward BICS qualification.

The position supports the maintenance and inspection of critical trunk road bridges and infrastructure in challenging terrains. You will report to the Bridge Inspection Manager and work a hybrid pattern with some site-based duties.

Qualifications

• HND or BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Progress toward BICS qualification is expected.
• Modern Apprentice Scheme entry qualification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with General and Principal Inspections
• Carrying out Reactive and safety inspections
• Working at height, utilising access systems and underbridge inspection equipment
• Confined space entry, working on water; Site supervision of maintenance schemes.

Our Northwest Trunk Road Unit contains 1,500 Structures, stretching from the rugged beauty of Thurso and Wick in the far north, down to the coastal charm of Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute. It connects communities from Uig on the Isle of Skye to the historic cities of Perth and Stirling, offering a unique opportunity to work across a landscape that’s as diverse as it is inspiring.

We have an exciting opportunity for Bridge Inspector to join our existing team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Bridge Inspection Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in General and Principal Inspection working towards Bridge Inspection Certificate Scheme (BICS) qualification.
