Job summary

Hastings Hotels in Northern Ireland seeks a reliable Breakfast Chef to join the Ballygally Castle kitchen team. You will prepare and supervise breakfast to Hastings standards, working 35 hours across five shifts, including weekends, with typical 6am–2pm shifts.

You will oversee kitchen staff, ensure stock control, train juniors, and maintain high hygiene and safety levels in a luxury hotel setting.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Food Preparation and Cooking.
• A recognised current Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
• Experience at a similar level in a high quality catering operation.
• Experience in breakfast service is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the effective supervision of kitchen employees to ensure breakfast operation runs smoothly.
• Promote a harmonious working environment with respect and dignity for all staff.
• Ensure quality standards and procedures are understood and followed.
• Ensure stock control and ordering policies are implemented and monitored.
• Provide training and coaching to junior kitchen staff for Hastings standards.
• Mentor junior staff to deliver efficient service in line with Hastings standards.
• Maintain communication with other hotel departments and suppliers for guest satisfaction.
• Ensure security of kitchen and storage areas is maintained.
• Maintain kitchen areas, fixtures and equipment in good condition.
• Uphold health, safety, fire, hygiene and security policies and procedures.
• Perform any other duties as required.

The successful candidate can expect to work 35 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out seven including weekends. Hours can vary but a typical shift pattern is 6am to 2pm.

The salary for this full-time position is £26,648.00 per annum.

• 7.To maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments and suppliers to maintain an effective operation and ensure guest satisfaction.
• 8.To ensure the security of kitchen and storage areas is maintained.
• 9.To ensure the kitchen areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained.
• 10.To ensure a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.
• 11.Any other duties as required.
