Job summary

ArtForms Music Centre, part of Leeds City Council, seeks a dedicated Brass and Woodwind Tutor to lead an ensemble at South Leeds Music Centre. The role focuses on delivering morning group and small-group lessons on Saturdays, developing an ensemble, and contributing to high-quality music tuition for local communities in Leeds.

The successful candidate will have Grade 8 on their instrument (or equivalent), experience leading ensembles, and a broad knowledge of teaching methods and repertoires.

Qualifications

• High level ability on instrument and knowledge of teaching its family
• Experience leading an ensemble group
• Broad knowledge of teaching and learning music and current teaching trends
• Understanding of a wide range of musical styles and repertoire for the instrument family
• Enthusiasm to motivate learners of all abilities
• Commitment to developing the centre as a whole

Responsibilities

• Teach individual or group brass/woodwind lessons in a music centre setting
• Be responsible for musical progress of children, young people and adults
• Deliver the agreed hours of teaching across 27 weeks per year
• Plan and differentiate work to meet student needs
• Develop teaching resources and learning materials
• Assist with enrolment and placing students
• Promote wellbeing of students and groups
• Take part in concerts and performances at the music centre
• Keep students/parents informed about opportunities
• Follow safeguarding policies and inclusion policies
• Maintain CPD and professional development
